A Visit To The Role Players

‘Twas the night of a new play,
And all through the house,
The audience wondered- -
Will we grumble and grouse,
At a sorry production
Of poor acting skill,
Or marvel instead
At a new theatre thrill?

“Fear not” said the patrons
Who’d been here before,
“You’ll see a performance
To make your hearts soar.”

“For you are in Danville
The Role Players’ venue.”
“They’ll give you a taste
From their excellent menu”
“Of masterful plays,

Said “turn off your phones”-
“For you must hear each gasp
And all meaningful moans”
“That the actors will utter,
As they ply their trade,”
“To amaze and excite you,
For good money you paid.”

“And so we will give you
The best that we’ve got”-
And as it turned out, that was quite a lot.
“Best play in the Bay,” the patrons agreed,
“We’ll come back again, to follow your lead.”
Then the theatre went dark, it slept overnight,
Till the next day it opened again to delight
With a Role Players play, be it comic or tragic.
When the Role Players play,
